Depending on the person I am speaking with about their marketing efforts I am used to one of two responses. Why should I invest in Internet marketing when I have direct mail, brochures and signage? Why should I invest in signs when I have Internet marketing?
My answer is always the same. Simply because someone stops in your store does not mean they know you are on Facebook, Twitter or have a website, and simply because someone finds you online does not mean they are ready to make a purchase. Therefore, you need to make sure you’re marketing campaign is closed-loop in order to get the most bang for your buck.
In this blog post I am not going to tell you about the importance of social media, websites or Internet marketing (that’s for PIP Social’s blog) but rather about how signs play a vital role in advertising.
With Americans taking 1.1 billion trips per day, it is wise to take your promotional efforts to the road through car wraps and vehicle graphics. According to American Trucking Association (ATA), 91% of people surveyed do notice vehicle graphics. This is the perfect place to let people know you are online because they can whip out their phones and find you online instantly.
A great complement to a mobile billboard is a yard sign. Not only are yard signs cost-effective advertisements but they are also highly effective. A yard sign may drive someone with a current need to use your company, and/or it may stick as a reminder in your potential customer’s mind for when the need does arise.
After registering with Foursquare, the social network that rewards users for checking in to places they frequent, we received a small Foursquare window graphic that let our current customers know to check-in when they come to PIP. We thought it was such a great way to let customers know we’re online that we made window graphics to advertise our presence on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and so on.
